Infrared photography refers to the field of photography in which pictures are taken with a film sensitive to infrared light. In infrared photography, the filter allows only infrared wavelengths, and not the wavelength of visible colors to pass through and produce an image. Wavelengths of the visible color from 400 nm (nanometers) to 700 nm wavelength infrared range from 700 nm to 1200 nm. Most modern cameras have infrared control.
Although the pictures may show infrared images of every day in a new light, they can also highlight objects that are not usually visible to the naked eye.
During the 1960s, infrared photography was especially popular in the designs of album covers musician. Jimi Hendrix was one of the most famous musicians who used psychedelic sensation of infrared photography to produce a hallucinogenic effect.
